Could the US Realistically Use Taiwan to Fight a Proxy War with China? "IndyWatch Feed World"

Illustration: Liu Rui/GT

John V. Walsh (@JohnWal97469920) is an antiwar writer who is well versed on China. Recently, he wrote an article titled Arming Taiwan is an Insane Provocation. Insane, yes, but it is also a blazing sign of desperation. A plethora of American words and actions touching on mainland China reveal a jittery seat of empire nervous because the empire seems to be tottering. Meanwhile, Chinas prominence continues to rise. But China doesnt want an empire; it doesnt aspire to a number one ranking as a powerful nation because it doesnt deal with nation states according to some ranking. What matters for China is building a relationship based on all sides coming out winners. Nations are flocking toward the self-effacing China which does not foist its ideology on others or mess around in their domestic affairs. Thus, the Belt and Road Initiative, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, and BRICS have several potential members knocking on the door, and many of these door-knockers have already started de-dollarizing.

So what does a faltering hegemon that is desperate to hang on to its self-described status as a full-spectrum dominant, above-the-law, exceptional, indispensable beacon-on-the-hill do? Flex its military muscle by surrounding a perceived challenger with military bases and finding nearby allies to arm against up-and-comers. Sanction the perceived challenger, demonize it and its leader in media, accuse the challenger of the crimes that it commits (e.g., genocide, human rights abuses, interference in other countries elections, espionage, cyber crimes, predatory lending).

A potent card in the imperial hegemons pocket is to get the foot soldiers of vassal states to fight the hegemons wars.

Walsh considers whether the US can recruit the Republic of China (Taiwan) to fight a proxy war, an internecine war, against the Peoples Republic of China (mainland China). Note: both the ROC and PRC claim to encompass the other. I agree with Walsh that willingly resortin...

Biden Regime Raises Alarm on Suspected Chinese Malware in U.S. Power and Communication Networks that Can Disrupt Military Operations During Conflict "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

The Biden regime is currently engaged in an extensive hunt for malicious computer code suspected to have been hidden by China within U.S. infrastructure network, The New York Times reported Saturday.

These systems control power grids, communication systems, and water supplies that serve both the general public and military bases in the United States and around the world, according to U.S. military, intelligence, and national security officials.

The detection of this malware has triggered multiple meetings in the White Houses Situation Room in recent months, igniting fears that Chinese hackers, likely linked to the Peoples Liberation Army, have planted this code with the intention to disrupt U.S. military operations in the event of a conflict, specifically over Taiwan.

Senior officials from the National Security Council, the Pentagon, the Homeland Security Department, and the nations spy agencies have convened to understand the scale of the issue and formulate a response.

Members of Congress, state governors, and utility companies have been briefed by Biden administration officials on the findings. These officials have also confirmed some conclusions about the operation in interviews with The New York Times.

The malware has been described as a ticking time bomb by one congressional official. Its potential to give China the power to disrupt American military deployments or resupply operations by severing access to power, water, and communication lines to U.S. military bases is a chilling prospect. Moreover, because this infrastructure also serves homes and businesses of ordinary Americans, the potential impact could be even more far-reaching.

This elusive code, which the U.S. government has been trying to locate and eliminate, is more pervasive both within the United States and at American facilities abroad than initially realized. However, officials admit they are yet to fully understand the extent of the codes infiltration, primarily due to its sophisticated concealment.

In response to questions from The Times, the White House released a statement on Friday that refrained from directly mentioning China or the military bases.

The Biden administration is working relentlessly to defend the United States from any disruptions to our critical infrastructure, including by coordinating interagency efforts to protect water systems, pipelines, rail and aviation systems, among others, said Adam R. Hodge, the acting spokesman for the National Security Council.

Chinas embassy in Washington issued a statement on Saturday, denying its involvement in hacking and accusing the United States of being a far greater...

America Last: Biden Regime Announces $345 Million of Military Aid Package for Taiwan Courtesy of US Taxpayers Money "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

The Biden regime has announced a new military aid package for Taiwan, amounting to $345 million, which has sparked concerns regarding fiscal responsibility and prioritizing domestic needs.

This announcement has come at a time when the domestic economy continues to grapple due to failed Biden economic policies. However, the Biden regimes latest foreign policy move indicates a different set of priorities.

ABC News reported:

The United States has announced a historic $345 million military aid package for Taiwan which for the first time will come from existing U.S. military stockpiles instead of purchases through the foreign military sales program, the White House announced Friday.

The announcement is a lesson learned from the U.S. military assistance to Ukraine where U.S.-made weapons are quickly getting to the battleground, but it will also likely rile China which considers Taiwan to be a breakaway province.

The Pentagon has signaled for much of the year that it intended to prepare such a passage after Congress authorized $1 billion for military aid to be provided to Taiwan under what is known as a Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA).

The White House released a brief memorandum late on Friday afternoon announcing the $345 million relief package.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 621 of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (FAA), I hereby delegate to the Secretary of State the authority under section 506(a)(3) of the FAA to direct the drawdown of up to $345 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training, to provide assistance to Taiwan, Joe Biden said in a statement.

The drawdown includes self-defense capabilities that Taiwan will be able to use to build to bolster deterrence now and in the future, said Lt. Col. Martin Meiners. Systems included in the $345 million package address critical defensive stockpiles, multi-domain awareness, anti-armor, and air def...

The Chips War: The West Versus China "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Ever since the Biden Administration, alias the Globalists, took power in Washington, China was bombarded with threats and sanctions; foremost with attempts of chips-strangulation, meaning, being blocked for the chip production, and by supply chain disruptions of electronics, notably semiconductors.

The entire car industry could be paralyzed. While that would be great for the Global Warming / Climate Change freaks, not only the car industry, but also to a large extent the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) would suffer, as it also depends on such fast-evolving chips. A good thing as well!

The drawback with a production / supply interruption would be a slack in new chip-technology development which is subject to constant scientific research and trials.

You may call it the Chips War West versus China. It had begun already some three years ago. At some point in 2022 rumors emerged that Mr. Biden was to blackmail Americans working in the Chinese chip-industry by taking their US citizenship away, if they would not quit their jobs immediately.

Of course, this is complete nonsense and would be totally unconstitutional. Not even King Biden could get away with acting on such a menace.

So far nothing happened, other than the US prohibiting Taiwan, the main producer of such valuable chips, to supply them to mainland China, and asking Taipeis main chip manufacturer, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) to build with urgency a chip manufacturing facility in Arizona that should become operational in 2024.

TSMC chairman Mark Liu said, however, that the plant faced a shortage of workers with the specialized expertise required for equipment installation in a semiconductor-grade facility. Therefore, the TSMC chip plant in Arizona will have to postpone production until 2025, instead of 2024, as expected by the Biden Administration.

So much for Washingtons attempt to outpace Beijing in the global chip race by economically closely collaborating with Taiwan. Not to forget, Taiwan is seen by Beijing as an integral part of mainland China. See this for more details, see this.

What is the semi-conductor industry? For what are semiconductors used?

It is the industry in which companies conceive, design, and manufacture an electronic device, called semiconductors, a fundamental component of modern electronics, such as cell phones, televisions, and computers. As the world is becoming increasingly all-digitized, it will ever-more depend on computers and electronics to enhance the capabilities of devices ranging from doorbells to motor vehicles and, not to forget the MIC. The semiconductor field is dominated by a handful of countries, though the field is growing and expanding rapidly.

Bidenomics: Trickle Up as Poverty Takes the Middle Class "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

The News Media are going ballistic today on how great the US economy is fairing under the Bidenomics plan of trickling up.   For the record, trickle up would indicate that the poverty is expanding upward and gaining momentum.

Strong GDP is being bolstered by a boom in factory construction and investment stemming from huge pieces of subsidy- and tax credit-heavy legislation ~ The Hill.

  1. Taiwan is building two semiconductor plants in the US at a cost of $40 billion subsidized by US Taxpayers.
  2. Intel is building a semiconductor plant in Ohio subsidized by US Taxpayers
  3. Samsung, a Korean company, is building a semiconductor plant in Texas subsidized
  4. Abbott is building a nutritional powder factory in Ohio. Crickets? subsidized
  5. Siemens, a German Company is building and EV Charger plant in Texas subsidized
  6. Italys Enel will build a solar cell and panel factory somewhere, sometime, undisclosed.

The demographics of all these companies is interesting roughly 70% male all democrats 15% Asian and 15% Hispanic.   How and why are these foreign companies suddenly so interested in building factories in the US?   It is all FREE!

  • The Inflation Reduction Act.   The Act provides $369bn of tax credits for clean technologies,
  • The Chips and Science Act allocates $39bn in funds for semiconductor manufacturing, and an additional $24bn of manufacturing tax credits.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis was founded in 1972, after being lost forever, it is tasked with estimating the variations in GDP.   In addition, their formulas determine which states get how much in federal funding.   Yesterday they released their estimate of US GDP growth with a revised upward outlook of 2.4%!   WOW Bidenomics is working! The US stock market has been heavily gaining and all the Kings men

The first caveat the BEA website states is the 2.4% figure is an advance estimate  the real estimate will be released on pinpoint day August 30.   The second caveat is the entire guesstimate is based on spending.   This would indicate that the cost of spending has increased as in everything is more expensive.   What it does not measure is reality.

Exports were down housing investment was down, imports and consumer spending were up and drove most of the GDP.

Consumer Spending was led by housing (rent increases) and utilities (air conditioning); health care (everyone is getting cancer from the vax); financial services (they changed the inheritance and estate tax) insurance (rates went up 35%); and transportation services(airline tickets double).

Consumer Goods also tracked higher led by recreational goods (RVs and toys for summer) vehicles (price gouge) as well as gasoline and other en...
